“Stop setting goals. Goals are pure fantasy unless you have a specific plan to achieve them.” – Stephen Covey.
What’s your plan?
Imagine you’re taking a road trip to a place you’ve never been before. Everything is packed. The tank is full of gas. You’re ready to go. But before turning on the ignition what do you do? If you’re like most people, you input your destination into the GPS. The GPS tells you where you are, where you’re going and how long it’ll take to get there. You can now relax and enjoy the journey as you drive confidently to your destination.
Now picture that same trip without using a GPS or even a map. Chances are your journey will be wrought with dead ends, wrong turns, traffic jams, and constantly stopping to ask directions. The odds are you won’t reach your destination in time if you reach it at all.
There is a staggering amount of research suggesting the best chance you have of achieving your goals is to know where you’re starting from, where you’re going, and have a roadmap to get there. Basically what you really need is a plan.
Having a plan to achieve your goals is like having a reliable GPS system that can get you to your destination without fail. It lets you achieve your goals, regardless of how big or small.
Without a plan, you’re adrift. Your efforts lack focus and direction. The efforts you do take can be fruitless or worse, interfere with what you’re trying to accomplish. Talk about discouraging! What’s the point of having a goal if your efforts constantly miss the mark?
Goals provide you with a target to aim towards, and having a plan puts you in the driver’s seat to get there. You take charge of your life’s direction.
Think of a plan as your own powerful, personal GPS system. It gives you all the vital information: where you’re starting from, where you’re going, how to get there most efficiently, how far you’ve come, how much farther there is to go, and alternate routes to take when necessary.
Whether you dream of growing your online business, saving for your kids’ education, or taking a dream vacation, if you really want to achieve your goals you need a plan to help you get there.
It’s time to stop leaving your success to chance.
Now is the time to input your plan into your personal GPS, and hit the road toward your destination.
